I have come to understand that marriage is more than what people make of it. Marriage is probably the toughest college anyone will be enrolled into. You never graduate. My mom continually says that it is the school that gives you a certificate even before you start.
Before I got engaged, I underestimated the ability for people to get along, make compromises for each other especially at the point of major decisions. It is taking a lot of tip-toeing and wisdom to handle parents, parents-in-law, extended family and the rest. The bible allows man to leave his family and cleave to his wife, but culture makes it tough to do.
More than ever, I understand why it is important to deal with even your partner in wisdom. I can't begin to stress how much wisdom is important in everything we do. In each situation I find myself, I understand more why Solomon asked for wisdom above all else.
Drawing a line between my home and my house is important. My home is with my husband and my house is with everyone else. Respect, humility and love is what makes a home, but the wisdom to utilize these things makes it a beautiful and peaceful home.
What do you do when the pressure is much from parents and church alike? What do you do when you do not know what to do? Well, do what Hezekiah did, go to God in prayer and seek His wisdom and direction on issues that plague you.
So, to gain widom, go to the wisest of all, God. Go to the bible and get a word for each day.
"Wisdom is the principal thing and in all your wisdom, get understanding" - God.

The fit woman
"...She sets about her work vigorously, her arms are strong for her tasks" Prov 31:17
Her arms aren't the christian mother arms, her tummy is not flabby, and her thighs are toned, worked out because she needs the strength of her muscles for her work.
It is needful to be healthy and in shape. If not for my husbands' desire, then for my health. "...that you may have health in abundance..." is a promise that will not come to pass if you take for granted your own health.
Therefore, I have taken up the gym, not just to loose weight and be healthy but to cultivate working out as a lifestyle. I can just imagine myself after kids still looking strong and healthy, muscles toned and appetite controlled; what a wonderful feeling.
Just three days of gyming, and I feel good. I know people often say, well, lets see how long you can pull this off; the thing is I am taking it one day at a time.
Work out, eat healthy, eat what I want but in small portions, eat before 7pm, eat loads of fruits, drink tons of water and continually serve God. Yes, serve God because He give seed to the sower and bread for food and so without him, healthy eating is not even possible.
So thats it, being healthy and staying healthy is beneficial for you and your family.
With love, and my eyes on the weight scale,

Love of the 14th
Valentine is sort of over-rated. Most people do not know the origins of the celebration or the day itself, and they blindly celebrate it. I'd rather not go into that, for the sake of a short post.
This is not to say that I do not celebrate valentine's day. I do.
Thing is...I celebrate Him everyday.
In my opinion, valentine's day should only be the extra-extra-extra mile day.
Unfortunately, today i struggle with getting in the mood for candles, dinner and gifts. I did not even get him a gift, not because I did not want to but because I lost the chance to get him what i really wanted to get him. I am grateful that even at the last minute, a friend bailed me out. Thanks T.
But regardless of how moody or out of it i feel, and being the proverbs 31 woman that I am becoming more and more of each day, I take time out to pray for him today. I take time out to tell him I would not be with anyone else. I take out time to do more for him today, even if I cannot afford to get him the world.
I take time out to tell him "I LOVE YOU BABY".
Happy Valentine everyone.

Concerns
I wonder if...
He only prays now because he desires something
He is not as focused as he seems now
His heart will continually be stayed on God
He will let the world take him from God
He will be a good father
He will be a good husband
I will be enough for him
We will last
He comes from a broken home and so do I.
We have got to break the cycle;
This is where the Proverbs 31 woman kicks in.
"She watches over the affairs of her household"
I am in charge of how things turn out in my home. On my knees I would remain to ensure that my concerns only remain concerns.
Prayer is my weapon in this fight to keep my home and to break the cycle of the broken home!
I own this! Gods got this!

Loosing Control
In most, if not all of my past relationships, I have almost always been in charge and I got used to it.
Its taking a lot from me not to be in control anymore. "Wives, obey and respect your husbands" says the Word.
"Okay, okay", I tell myself, until something happens or hubby-to-be (HTB) does something that I can not control and then my mouth starts to itch. I want to say how I feel very badly. Often times, I saygreat good things, just at the wrong time. My last post mentioned that part of proverbs that says "a fools lips cause arguments/fights and his mouth brings a beating", well, often times my mouth has brought about looks that could almost kill.
HTB told me once that if one were to be judged by looks, I would pass as a super sweet person, which of course I am until I get pissed or burned in some sort of way. I can get really bad with words, not necessarily insults, just plain facts that can hurt.
Well, I have concluded that there is absolutely one thing that I can be in control of! My tongue and actions. I hate to say sorry too many times because it begins to loose its worth.
I hope that with time I'll get used to the fact that I can not always be in control. Its time to let go and let God always & HTB sometimes. :) Besides, if I am in control all the time, where does God come in.
Pray for me y'all!
I will be starting an A-Z of the proverbs woman soon....watch this space.

M is for Meat not Milk!
...Like Newborn Babes, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation. I Pet 2:2
...For everyone that uses milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness; for he is a babe. But solid food is for fullgrown men, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern good and evil. Heb 5:13-14
Nature takes precedence in the growth cycle of a baby and determines what sort of food that baby can chew and/or digest. But for the purpose of my current situation, nature is going to be defied and growth will be rapid.
Like I mentioned in my very first post, a very important phase of my life is about to begin and I have to be ready for it.
Prov 3:15 "She provides meat for her family and maidservants".
How can you give what you do not have? The time to graduate from milk to meat is now. If I am to feed my household the meat of Gods word, I have to learn to chew and then teach the babes around me. Understanding of Gods word is important to administer it to hubby and children.
That proverbs woman should be filled with the word of God. To read the bible is one thing, to understand is another. Understanding is what makes the difference. Understanding gives you the knowledge to apply the word. It gives you the wisdom to teach it to others.
This morning I read in Prov 18:6, A fools lips walks into a fight and his mouth invites a beating. Before I read it, i was at the brink of saying some unfriendly things to hubby to be and then the word reminded me to be quiet. See! Already learning to be wise in the choosing of my words and timing of my "sermons".
It was a good example of why I need to move from milk to meat.
Stay read up folks. The word is a manual for everyday!

According to...
Proverbs 31 Ministries,
There are 7 principles that should guide a woman aspiring to be a proverbs 31 woman.
She...
- Pursues an ongoing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Loves, honors, and greatly enriches the life of her husband, encouraging and supporting his leadership within his family and his church.
- Nurtures the next generation, shaping and molding the children who will one day define who we are as a community and as a nation.
- Creates a warm and loving environment for family and friends.
- Is a faithful steward of the time and money God has entrusted to her.
- Speaks with wisdom and faithful instruction as she encourages others and develops godly friendships.
- Shares the love of Christ by extending her hands to help the poor and opening her arms to the needy.
These and more are what I aspire to be and what any woman should aspire to be to change the world around her, thereby changing the whole world.
For devotions and more on how to become a woman called by God to affect the world, go to their website here. They make it easier for today's woman to stay conected to God.

In the begining
This blog is to chronicle a journey to becoming who God wants me to be. Marriage is around the corner and I am not spiritually set. Now there is nothing impossible with God, so i'm looking up!!! I know I've got to stay prayed up, be consistent in devotion and stay focused. I hope to be the best woman i can be for my husband to be, my parents, my children to come, my friends and other family.
I am praying 2013 becomes the year that holds the fufillment of becoming that proverbs 31 woman.
I will be using proverbs 31 a lot on this blog as i discuss life and other things. Kindly feel free to comment and ask questions.
Welcome and I hope you enjoy the ride with me.
